‘The streets are ours as well’: Cleanup begins after riots claim first life

Posted on Updated on

I thought this story was important to share.  It proves that people can – and will – stand up for what they believe in and take back control when necessary.  Most importantly, it proves that they won’t put up with hate and violence.

While the shooting that sparked the London riots may have been something worthy of protest, taking the lives and livelihoods of other innocents is not the way to protest it – it’s merely a mirror of the same kind of senseless violence, and will not solve anything.

Those who came out to clean and reclaim the streets understand that.  Kudos to them for making perhaps the most poignant statement of this entire mess.
